Insights for the Job Seeker by Callings.ai

Survey reveals almost half of all managers aim to replace workers with AI, could use it to lower wages — Rob Thubron, Techspot

Techspot’s Rob Thubron recently posted an article worth reading (here). It delves into a recent Beautiful.ai sponsored survey of three thousand managers about AI tools in the workplace. Here are the main takeways:

  1. 41% are hoping they can replace employees with cheaper AI tools
  2. 48% said their business would benefit financially from this move
  3. 45% said they view AI as an opportunity to lower salaries
  4. 12% are using AI in hopes of downsizing
  5. 62% managers said their employees fear AI tools will cost them their job
  6. 90% of managers say they are already using AI to increase productivity AND that AI tools will also lower pay for managers
  7. 64% say AI’s output and productivity are equal to or better than humans

The one encouraging thing from the survey? The number of managers looking to replace employees with AI has “significantly’ reduced since 2023. A bit of silver lining I guess.

I encourage you to read the whole article because we all face a changed world with the arrival of AI/ML technologies, especially those of the generative variety. It is also important to recognize this increasingly pervasive view of AI/ML tools and employment among managers. The big takeaway must be that having experience with these tools is essential and demonstrating how to utilize your professional skills in concert with AI/ML is required during your job search and in any new position to pursue. So start outfitting yourself with AI/ML knowledge and capabilities.

At Callings.ai we believe that people matter and AI, while a great productivity tool, doesn’t replace the holistic wisdom of our fellow humans. Our goal is to empower people with AI to help level the playing field as they seek their next role.
