Sand on the shore and stars in the sky are miracles beyond human comprehension. They are scientific phenomena and splendid examples of nature’s fine art. Our own potential for fresh discoveries reflects this boundless universal innovation, as within us, universes are ever building and expanding. Somehow we keep composing new songs. New cookie recipes are baked to sweet perfection. New theories are born of our research and ponderings. All ideas build, patterned upon patterns.
As job hunters, we are constantly assessing roles for the tasks required and the rewards offered. We seek identifiable patterns of reciprocation. The standard benefits for working a job include financial gain, medical and retirement contributions, and an overall sense of accomplishment. We feel happy and useful when we are well-paid and treated with dignity for the value we contribute. We desire consistency, expecting that the benefits for our work will continue while we hold the role.
Many of us when asked what we do are quick to respond with our job title. It is clearly important for our overall survival and sense of wellbeing that we benefit from our jobs.
What about the benefits that love offers?
Love creates connection. It is not a tactile thing. It is like spirit, like wind, shaping around us and wafting through our lives. We are receivers of love, givers of love, and sharers of love. We can do something lovingly, such as prepare a meal for someone. We can say something nice to someone or offer to share our umbrella. Connecting with someone doesn’t mean that we are closely bonded to them. It simply means that we are flexing and amping up our ability to relate. Depending upon our closeness with the people around us, we love in different ways. We can be closely intimate or love from a distance. All love is good. Whenever we exhibit a fondness for someone or communicate our appreciation, our ability to connect strengthens.
Love builds character. Job hunting can feel existentially vast and hollow, as if every turn we take is yet another dark tunnel to be lost in. We might feel alone and confused. Let’s take a moment to really fathom the sensation of aloneness in this series of opaque tunnels. Without direction and a sense of meaning, what is the point of it all? Now infuse the experience with love. We are not alone. We are precious. We are cared for. Feeling empowered by this awareness, we have direction. We are free to communicate without inhibition. We can be bold and original, feel safer taking risks, and forgive ourselves and others in order to try again and do better next time. With love, we are more authentic.
Love provides opportunity. When we treat people with love, they are likely to remember us fondly. Love is not meant simply to be felt, but to be expressed. As we respond to the positive feelings that arise from love, we smile more, think more about ways to help others, and think more thoughtfully about problematic scenarios that could be easily judged. We can express love, respond with love, or exert our love as a call to action. Just as our love expands in relationships with the time and care we contribute, our skills for giving and receiving multiply when we treat people with compassion. Therefore, love is a form of networking, leading to more choices. For optimal outcome, practice is key. The more love, the better.
Love is healthy. It spans languages, traditions, and geographies. Love can be shared through nurturing, protecting, validating, educating, uplifting, or soothing someone else. The receiver of love might be a friend, a cat, a partner, a child, a plant, a parent, or a peer. Love is social and interactive, but it can also be a sensation. Love can be transmitted through mood or carved into stone. The way we feel love varies, but one constant is that love is good for us. It brings understanding, empathy, the awareness of other life, and a sense of relevancy to our own lives. Caring for someone else boosts our immune system. It enhances the circulation of our blood, oxygen, and thoughts. Love gives a sense of focus which in turn, allows for a sense of ease.
Love should feel amazing, but its quality depends upon the seed from which it grows. Do you love yourself? Give yourself some extra love today and see what happens. Your own self-love forms the seed from which your capacity to love others will grow. Be kind to yourself today.
Love comes highly recommended. It will amplify your life and boost your job hunt. Give it a try!
