Dear Job Hunter,
I hope these words find you to be well and wondrous. We’re coming into a new summer season and I imagine the warmth of the sun will offer you additional light and energy, but it could also exert pressure upon you by way of its enduring heat.
I know that you spend a lot of your time on the move, seeking your next incredible opportunity, and it’s important to wear comfortable clothing and carry a flask for hydration. Summer treks for a job hunter might require additional supplies like sunglasses and a compass. Sometimes you might find yourself trekking on and on without respite, pushing yourself to finish the next cover letter, the next application, the next interview. You attend job fairs and cross miles of uneven surfaces in hopes of making just the right connection that will land you your next beautiful opportunity. A day in the life of a job hunter is a saga in itself.
What I would love to touch upon today, is the health and wellbeing of your feet.
Feet are your mobile roots. They get you from place to place. Caring for them ensures that the rest of you stays balanced. Now you might say, hey but I’m just sitting at a computer surfing job boards in a virtual capacity. However, even when your feet are not physically carrying you from place to place, their level of health still influences your overall wellness and peace of mind.
If your feet are sore while you work, you are distracted. Neglecting them might seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, but your feet must be tended to. Ignoring their needs can lead to a variety of issues, ranging from emotional to chronic.
Here are some sweet little gestures for boosting your feet and tending to their health:
- Wear shoes that fit correctly, have ample support, and feel good
- Take off your shoes from time to time, allowing freedom for your toes
- Massage your feet to relax their numerous tendons, muscles, and joints
- Remove calluses and moisturize—just a loofah and some lotion will do
- Soak your feet in warm water with epsom salt to release tension and toxins
- Wiggle your toes and pay attention to them—they’re amazing little entities
- Elevate your feet above the level of your heart several times a day
- Take care of your knees, hips, and back—they affect your posture and stride
- Stroll often through your home, your neighborhood, and your local park
- Thank your feet for being a part of the incredible person you are!
I hope you have gleaned some useful tips over the course of this motivational letter. Most importantly, you have taken a brief break from your job hunt and have thought about something else for a short while. Whether or not you take these words to heart, may your thought-wheels spin and your faithful feet propel you forward to advance you in your job search expedition.
Warmly,
Jenny
